About ICAEW

The Institute of Chartered Accountants in England & Wales (ICAEW) is the largest accountancy body in Europe, with over 128,000 members based in over 140 countries across the globe and 3,000 qualifying for membership every year.
The ACA qualification is widely recognised throughout the world and enables holders of the qualification many opportunities across a wide range of career enhancing opportunities wherever they are, and in whatever discipline they choose - practice, industry, public sector and others.

ACA (Eng and Wales)

(For ICAP Members)

As per the Memorandum of Understanding signed by The Institute of Chartered Accountants of Pakistan (ICAP) and The Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ICAEW), ICAP members are able to gain ICAEW’s ACA Qualification by sitting and passing three advanced level papers. However, candidates who have passed pre-2004 exams will be required to sit the professional stage paper for Business Strategy. Under the ICAEW’s accelerated program for ICAP members  candidates are required to complete a two year programme which includes preparation and sitting relevant exam papers and work experience with an Approved Training Employer (ATE).

(For Other Professionals)

ICAEW's accelerated programme is also available to other suitably qualified
accounting professionals such as ACCA and CIMA.

Syllabus and Structure

The Advanced Stage of the ACA qualification is designed to ensure that students are able to integrate and apply their technical, professional and technical skills in a variety of business environments.
There are three Advanced Stage modules: the Case Study and two Technical integration modules – Business Reporting and Business Change.
The Advanced Stage candidates will be required to apply professional skills in the technical integration modules. These professional skills are then examined to a greater extent in the final ACA module: the Case Study. This module requires higher level cognitive skills, analytical and evaluative skills and emphasises the importance of communication and articulation skills.

Assessment

The two technical integration modules will be examined using traditional paper based assessments. Each paper based exam will be 3.5 hours in length.
The Case Study will be a 4 hour written exam with ‘advance information’ provided to students ahead of the exam and ‘impact information’ issued in the exam, containing the Case Study requirements.

Flexibility

There are no regulations stipulating the order in which students must attempt the technical integration modules. The Case Study must be the final module attempted and can only be attempted in the final year of a training contract.Students will be permitted a maximum of four attempts at each Advanced Stage module.

Open Book Policy

Students may take any written or printed material into the exam hall subject to practical space restrictions.

Exams Schedule

The exams are held twice in a year in July and November. Individual students or firms are required to send exam entry in time to the ICAEW.

Tuition

The tuition for the programme will be delivered by Emile Woolf International, one of UK’s leading ACA tuition provider.
